Since 2017, the Sushi Festival has been the place to go for multicultural cuisine from all over Asia. The aim of the venture is a cultural and culinary exchange in the trade fair city of Düsseldorf. Set up like a food court with exhibitors from all over Europe, the event was planned with a diverse selection of acts. A variety of different workshops were offered. These included origami, sushi, and karate. In addition, musical and sporting performances took place at regular intervals. These included karaoke and concerts by the Japanese Taiko Band. As the largest Japanese colony outside Japan, Düsseldorf is rich in Japanese and Asian diversity. The event was accompanied by DJs throughout the day. The 3-day event attracted more than 18,000 sushi-hungry visitors and has become a permanent annual fixture in Düsseldorf’s event calendar.
